《熊貓的故事》講述了一個(gè)關(guān)于家庭和自然保護(hù)的故事。故事發(fā)生在中國(guó)四川省九寨溝自然保護(hù)區(qū)上空，科研人員們正在尋找大熊貓。由于竹子的開(kāi)花結(jié)籽，大熊貓們面臨著饑餓和疾病的威脅。為了拯救它們，中日科研人員們組織了搶救行動(dòng)。故事的主人公是東京動(dòng)物園的佳代小姐，她被允許到中國(guó)學(xué)習(xí)大熊貓飼養(yǎng)技術(shù)。她一到九寨溝就參與了救援行動(dòng)。在路上，她遇到了一個(gè)藏族少年龍龍，他請(qǐng)求他們救助一只奄奄一息的幼小大熊貓。佳代和龍龍將這只熊貓送到研究中心，經(jīng)過(guò)醫(yī)生的治療，熊貓終于脫離了危險(xiǎn)。然而，一天，這只調(diào)皮的熊貓溜出了研究中心，進(jìn)入了茂密的森林中玩耍。熊貓的失蹤引起了科研人員和附近村莊居民的搜索。佳代聽(tīng)到熊貓的叫聲，順著聲音尋找時(shí)不慎滑落下山崖，卻發(fā)現(xiàn)了熊貓正在斷崖樹(shù)樁上爬行。佳代不顧自己的傷痛，冒著危險(xiǎn)抱起了這只可愛(ài)的幼小熊貓。她帶著熊貓?jiān)谏窖孪聦ふ一厝サ穆罚疫\(yùn)的是，龍龍帶著獵狗及時(shí)趕到，幫助她們脫險(xiǎn)。在龍龍的家里，人們圍聚在一起，歡聲笑語(yǔ)。為了紀(jì)念這個(gè)感人的故事，大家為熊貓取了一個(gè)響亮的名字"華華"。一年后，佳代和龍龍依依不舍地送華華回歸大自然，讓它獨(dú)立生活。佳代的學(xué)習(xí)期滿(mǎn)，她即將回國(guó)，村長(zhǎng)代表全體村民祝她一路平安。然而，佳代發(fā)現(xiàn)龍龍并沒(méi)有來(lái)送別，心里感到十分難過(guò)。但她看到龍龍獨(dú)自站在山坡上，眼含淚水，目送她的小車(chē)駛向遠(yuǎn)方。
